There’s something especially magical about a late September wedding in the Midwest — the warm golden light, cool evening air, and the first hints of fall color settling into the trees. Sarah and Daniel’s wedding at Blue Dress Barn in Benton Harbor captured all of that perfectly!
Nestled in the countryside of Michigan, Blue Dress Barn provided the perfect backdrop for their celebration. The venue is known for its charming rustic character, open property, and beautiful natural surroundings, and Sarah and Daniel fully embraced everything the space had to offer. Guests spent the evening walking beneath towering trees and glowing string lights, and making s’mores!

Sarah wore a stunning gown by Martina Liana from Diana’s Bridal in Skokie, IL, that perfectly matched the romantic feel of the day. Daniel wore a custom suit from The Knot Standard in Chicago, adding a polished and tailored look that elevated the entire wedding aesthetic.

Sarah’s bridal beauty look was soft and romantic, perfectly suited for the outdoor setting and September weather. Hair styling by Samye Nagle of Hair by Samye and makeup by Allee Gushwa created a look that felt very natural and complemented her attire well.
The wedding party wardrobe tied everything together seamlessly. Bridesmaids wore olive green dresses from Revelry, which looked especially beautiful against the early fall landscape and rustic barn setting. The groomsmen wore classic grey suits from Macy’s, creating a cohesive palette that felt warm, earthy, and elegant.
Of course, one of our favorite parts of the day was the floral design!
Sarah and Daniel chose the Oslo Collection for their bridal bouquet, bridesmaid bouquet, corsages, and boutonnieres, as well as the Oslo centerpieces for their reception.
The floral palette complemented the olive bridesmaid dresses and warm neutral tones, and the pampas grass added texture to both the ceremony and reception spaces. Against the wood tones of the barn and the surrounding greenery, the lambs ear and ranunculus were perfect!
One of the things couples love most about wedding flower rentals is the ability to achieve a full, luxury floral look while remaining intentional about their wedding budget. Especially for large venues and guest counts, floral costs can escalate quickly. The decor throughout the reception added another layer of charm and personality to the evening. Table settings from Plum & Proper Dishes brought thoughtful detail to the reception space and complemented the romantic rustic style of the wedding perfectly.
One of the most memorable parts of the celebration was how much the day focused on creating a warm, welcoming experience for guests. Cocktail hour was held outdoors while a guitarist played, allowing everyone to enjoy the beautiful September weather and scenic property surrounding the venue. It created such a relaxed and inviting atmosphere as guests mingled beneath the trees before heading into the reception.
Dinner featured a burger bar from White Horse Farm Catering, which added a fun and laid-back element to the evening while still feeling thoughtful and elevated. Guests also enjoyed an incredible dessert spread from Di Dolci Cakery filled with homemade cupcakes, pies, and donuts — the kind of dessert table guests talk about long after the wedding ends.
As the evening continued, guests gathered around the bonfire making s’mores whenever they weren’t on the dance floor. That combination of outdoor fall weather, glowing string lights, and relaxed celebration made the entire night feel cozy, joyful, and personal.
